Children's Day at Boat Lagoon Phuket

Every year on the second Saturday of January we celebrate Children's day (Wan Dek). Businesses throw open their doors and run special events for the children. This year I'm in Phuket, and I headed to Boat Lagoon to celebrate with my little one.

There's lots of free gifts, free treats and for the companies.... free advertising. But you have to register, and that means turning up on time. I first visited Paklok municipal children's day only to find I was too late to register my baby. Boat Lagoon wasn't my first choice, but it worked out to be the best choice.

Magicians, music, games, hat making, tours of the lagoon, views of the yachts, trips on trolley buses. It was magical for her. She had a huge smile on her face all day, which made it magical for us.

Since they put on such a good day, I decide to return that evening and eat a meal. This time not free, as a paying customer, as a thank you.

Till next year's children's day.
